A 30-year-old man from Inver Grove Heights died late Sunday night when his motorhome caught fire on Interstate 35E in Eagan, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities say the incident occurred at around 10:18 p.m. on September 29, 2024, when the 1988 Southwind motorhome became stalled on the shoulder of northbound I-35E near Northwood Parkway.

Shortly after stalling, the motorhome caught fire, and the driver, identified as Steven Robert Tekautz, was unable to exit the vehicle.

First responders from the Eagan Police and Fire Departments arrived at the scene, but Tekautz was pronounced dead inside the motorhome. Authorities say alcohol was not a factor in the incident.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
