CHARGES: She Bit Off Woman’s Finger, Ripped Hair in Unprovoked Attack

A woman is facing multiple felony charges following a violent assault at an apartment complex in Aurora, Minn.

Authorities responded to an emergency call around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 24, 2025, reporting the attack.

According to the complaint, the caller said a younger woman was attacking older women inside the building. Arriving officers found 29-year-old Madusu Jawara being physically restrained by a male witness in the apartment lobby. Officers placed Jawara in handcuffs, but she refused to cooperate, with court documents saying she pretended to be unconscious.

The first victim—an adult female—told officers that she was suddenly attacked by Jawara without provocation. The victim reported that Jawara grabbed her, threw her to the ground and began pulling out chunks of her hair. The victim described the pain as “unbearable” and officers observed a significant bald spot where her hair had been forcibly ripped out. The victim held the strands of hair in her hand as she spoke with police.

A second adult female victim attempted to intervene but was also attacked. Jawara reportedly struck her repeatedly, knocked her glasses off her face and then bit her, completely severing part of her finger. The victim was thrown into a chair, where Jawara continued to hit her and forcibly pushed her hands into her mouth in an apparent attempt to choke her. The victim suffered severe injuries and later required emergency medical attention.

In addition to the assaults, Jawara also allegedly grabbed the second victim’s small dog, pulled its hair and placed it between her legs while choking it. Witnesses—including a male bystander—intervened to rescue the dog and restrain Jawara until police arrived.

Jawara was transported to the emergency room at Essentia Health-Northern Pines for evaluation before being booked into custody. While at the hospital, she became aggressive, attempting to bite officers and medical staff multiple times. She also spat at a nurse but missed. Due to her violent behavior, officers had to restrain her several times to prevent further harm.

The second victim later checked into the hospital for treatment of her injuries. Medical staff discovered she was experiencing internal bleeding in her neck and her condition deteriorated rapidly. She was intubated and airlifted by Life Link helicopter to a hospital in Duluth for advanced care. Authorities have not provided an update on her condition.

Jawara has been charged with first-degree assault causing great bodily harm, third-degree assault causing substantial bodily harm, fourth-degree assault on a peace officer, mistreatment of animals and obstruction of the legal process. She remains in custody as the investigation continues and faces up to 20 years in prison on the most serious charge. Her booking photo was not available as of publication.
