Crews Respond to Mobile Home Fire in Rochester Saturday Morning

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, the Rochester Fire Department was alerted to a fire in a mobile home in the Oak Terrace Mobile home park in southeast Rochester. Callers reported that fire was “shooting out” of the front of home.

Firefighters arrived and found heavy fire coming from the deck and the front wall of the home. Once the exterior fire was extinguished, crews noted smoke coming from underneath the trailer home, and had to remove skirting from multiple sides of the trailer to find and attack the flames.

All residents and several dogs made it out safely, however one dog died in the fire. Frigid temperatures made challenges for the firefighters on scene, creating slippery tools and unstable footing.

Crews were on scene for approximately three hours before the scene was turned over to the Rochester Fire Marshal’s Division for investigation.
