Man Fatally Shot in Saint Paul's Hamline-Midway Neighborhood

Saint Paul officers responded to a shooting on the 500 block of Prior Avenue North just after 9:30 pm. There, officers found a male believed to be in his 30s suffering from a gunshot wound to the back.

A 911 caller reported hearing a gunshot and found the male down in the middle of the street. The caller was instructed to begin CPR on the victim until first responders arrived.

Officers located two .223 caliber rifle casings at the scene. A dark-colored SUV was spotted by paramedics fleeing the area of the shooting at a high rate of speed and was last seen westbound on I-94, but it’s unknown if it was involved.

The male victim was transported to Regions Hospital in traumatic arrest and didn’t have a pulse. Police later confirmed that the man died of his injuries. This is the second homicide in as many days in Saint Paul.

On Sunday afternoon, a woman was fatally stabbed in an apartment building. A suspect has been taken into custody in relation to the stabbing.
