2 Dead After Pursuit, Crash in Maplewood

UPDATE: Authorities now confirm that two people died as a result of their injuries in the crash. The driver has been identified, but is not yet in custody.

Multiple serious injuries were reported after a suspect driving a stolen vehicle fled from Ramsey County deputies before crashing into a yard late Friday afternoon. Deputies initiated a pursuit on Larpenteur Ave. near White Bear Ave. after learning the vehicle was previously stolen. The driver sped off while deputies pursued and followed the vehicle from a distance.

Deputies that were in pursuit came upon the vehicle and it rolled and crashed near the intersection of Larpenteur Ave. E. & Chamber St. N. Three occupants of the vehicle were seen running away on foot, initial dispatch audio indicated, and two of those suspects were later detained and brought to the hospital to be evaluated for injuries.

A drone was used to search for the third suspect who was seen running from the scene, but the search was unsuccessful.

Deputies reported that there were three individuals still in the car. Fire and paramedics were requested to the scene. Saint Paul Fire Medics reported they had one victim that was in cardiac arrest in the ambulance.

Two other victims, both reportedly 14 years old, suffered serious injuries and were being brought to a trauma center for treatment by Maplewood paramedics.

The vehicle was reportedly previously stolen in the Lakeville or Apple Valley area.

The State Patrol was requested to assist with crash reconstruction and additional information is expected to be released by the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office as it becomes available.

UPDATE: Authorities say two of the occupants died as a result of their injuries, but their ages and identities had not yet been released as of late Friday. One other occupant was seriously injured, two were detained and the driver is still at large.
