Roseville fire crews were kept busy on July 4th, responding to two house fires as well as many grass and garbage can fires in the evening hours and overnight.

Crews were called to their first house fire shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday on the 2200 block of Merrill Street.

Crews arrived and reported they had a detached garage that was fully involved with heavy fire showing. They reported the fire was spreading to the main residences on both sides of the garage. Crews were able to knock the main fire down quickly, but the garage was a total loss, and both residences sustained damage.

Crews responded to the second house fire just before 1 a.m. on the 3000 block of West Owasso Blvd N. Crews arrived at a large two-story home and reported they had flames showing from the front of the attached garage. According to firefighters, the fire started on the outside of the garage and spread up to the roof. Crews spent some time inside the home checking for any extension and hotspots.

Crews had help from Maplewood, Lake Johanna, and Little Canada fire departments. No injuries were reported as a result of either fire.
