An aircraft crashed into a home in Brooklyn Park early Saturday afternoon, igniting a large fire and prompting a widespread emergency response.

All occupants of the home were able to escape, according to initial radio dispatches, but authorities have not yet confirmed how many people were injured or killed in the plane crash and resulting fire.

CCTV appears to show the plane diving into the residential area Saturday in Brooklyn Park.

The crash was reported around 12:23 p.m. near 10792 Kyle Avenue North, just south of Noble Parkway and Kyle Avenue. Responding crews found the home fully engulfed with flames threatening nearby structures and the fire was upgraded to a 2nd-alarm by 12:26 p.m. Evacuations were initiated for nearby homes as a precaution.

Mutual aid was requested from multiple agencies. Firefighters were warned by the homeowners that an electric vehicle was inside the garage, further complicating suppression efforts and prompting increased caution.

Around 12:52 p.m., Brooklyn Park firefighters on scene reported finding wreckage from the aircraft “scattered around the back” of the home, consistent with the plane having crashed into or immediately adjacent to the residence.

Flight tracking data indicates the aircraft involved was a single-engine Socata TBM-700, registered as N721MB. The plane had departed from Des Moines and was scheduled to land at Anoka County–Blaine Airport at approximately 12:11 p.m. It is still unclear why the aircraft deviated from its planned route.

Firefighters also reported finding aircraft wreckage in a tree near the home. They were continuing to work on extinguishing the blaze into the afternoon and the immediate area remained locked down.

Officials have not confirmed how many people were onboard the aircraft at the time of the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are expected to take over the investigation into the cause of the crash.

Brooklyn Park Fire officials said it’s believed there are no survivors, but it’s still unclear how many people were on board the plane at the time of the crash. The residents of the home were unharmed, officials confirmed.

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz shared a statement on X following the crash: “My team is in touch with local officials on the scene in Brooklyn Park and we are monitoring the situation closely. Grateful to the first responders answering the call.”

An update from BPFD says the fire was brought under control within an hour and Xcel Energy is working to restore power to the neighborhood. More details are expected to be released Sunday.

UPDATE | Sunday, March 30, 2:30 p.m.

Federal investigators now believe one person was aboard the plane, and U.S. Bank has identified that person as likely being Vice Chair and Chief Administration Officer Terry Dolan. In a statement, the company said the aircraft was registered to Dolan and that they believe he died in the crash. The NTSB confirmed Sunday that early findings indicate only one person was on the plane.
