VIDEO: One Seriously Injured in Coon Rapids Home Explosion

One person was seriously injured in a home explosion Wednesday afternoon in Coon Rapids. The cause of the explosion is under investigation and several other homes were damaged.

Coon Rapids Fire officials say they were dispatched around 2:56 p.m. Wednesday to the 800 block of 104th Ave. after the reported explosion.

One person was inside the home at the time and was seriously injured in the blast.

The victim was transported to Hennepin Healthcare and an update on their condition is not yet available. No one else was injured. Homes on both sides of the explosion were impacted and sustained damage, authorities said, and the initial home involved is a total loss.

Coon Rapids Police and Fire are investigating the incident, with help from the Anoka County Fire Investigation Team and State Fire Marshal’s Office.
