Dad Charged After Toddler Dies in 8th-Floor Fall in Brooklyn Center
Authorities say that on May 18, 2024, Brooklyn Center officers were dispatched to an apartment complex after getting a report of a child who had fallen from a window. When officers arrived, they found the child on the ground with life-threatening injuries.
2 Seriously Injured in Brooklyn Center Crash
Police say were dispatched to the report of the crash around 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Freeway Boulevard near Xerxes Avenue North. Upon arrival, officers located one vehicle with extensive damage and two victims suffering from extensive injuries outside of the vehicle.
Man Charged in Brooklyn Center Stabbing Death
A New Hope man is charged with 2nd-degree murder after allegedly stabbing a man in the parking lot of a Brooklyn Center apartment building earlier this week, killing him. Police spoke to the victim’s sister, who said that her child’s father, Demetrius Lamar Harris, 28, had come over to her apartment that evening.
Man Dies After Dog Attack in Brooklyn Center
Police say they responded to a residence on the 5700 block of Halifax Avenue North where they found four dogs attacking 22-year-old Dezmond Ray Thomas Trawick in the backyard. Police say they deployed a “less-lethal” round which struck at least one of the dogs, resulting in all of the dogs returning to the residence.

At Least 13 Rounds Fired Near Brooklyn Center Business in Mid-Day Gunfight
A surveillance camera caught a brazen mid-day gunfight outside a Brooklyn Center strip mall Friday afternoon. There were no immediate injuries reported, but police say at least 13 rounds were fired. Former Officer Kim Potter Gets 2 Years for Manslaughter in Daunte Wright Death
Former Brooklyn Center police officer Kimberly Potter has been sentenced to 24 months in prison by Hennepin County Judge Regina Chu for fatally shooting Daunte Wright during a traffic stop last spring. Two-thirds of Potter’s sentence must be served in prison, while one-third can be served on conditional release. She may be eligible for release in April 2023.
Ex-Brooklyn Center Cop Found Guilty in Daunte Wright Death
After a trial lasting eight days and deliberating for more than a combined 27 hours, a jury has found former Brooklyn Center police officer Kimberly Potter guilty on first and second-degree manslaughter charges for the death of 20-year-old Daunte Wright on April 11.
Sentencing will be set at a later date, but state guidelines call for a sentence of around seven years. State prosecutors have previously said they intend to seek an aggravated sentence.
