The Hennepin County Medical Examiner on Monday identified one of the victims of a shooting early Saturday morning in downtown Minneapolis as Charlie Bernard Johnson, 21, of Golden Valley. Johnson was an innocent bystander outside of the Monarch nightclub just before 2 a.m. when gunfire rang out. In all, 10 people were struck, with Johnson and another man dying of their injuries.

Two people are dead and eight others injured in a shooting outside the Monarch nightclub on the 300 block of N. 1st Ave. in downtown Minneapolis just before 2 a.m.

A 6-year-old girl is the latest casualty of a string of shootings in Minneapolis that have critically injured young children. Aniya Allen died of her injuries Wednesday at Hennepin County Medical Center after being rushed there late Monday.

A 21-year-old man has been charged with 2nd-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing his adult sister in their family’s Chanhassen, Minn., home Saturday afternoon. Joseph Thomas Ness is accused of firing hundreds of rounds from AR-15 and AK-47 rifles inside before he fled the scene and his 25-year-old sister was found dead by officers.

A woman and two young children died of their injuries after a one-vehicle crash around 7 a.m. near Dunkirk Ln. & Lawndale Ln. in Maple Grove, Minn., Saturday, May 8. Initial investigation shows the 25-year-old female driver of the vehicle left the road and struck a tree near the intersection.

Minneapolis police are investigating a homicide after a shooting downtown Saturday, May 8 left a woman dead and a man injured. The gunfire rang out near S. 9th St. & Lasalle Ave. around 10:20 p.m., with police later finding the female victim there with a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities were at the scene of a bank robbery and hostage situation at a Wells Fargo bank branch in St. Cloud, Minn., for more than eight hours on Thursday afternoon and into the evening. They took the suspect into custody by 10:30 p.m. after four hostages were released and a final hostage leapt to safety.

A man died of his injuries after reportedly shooting himself during a traffic stop in the Miracle Mile strip mall parking lot in Rochester, Minn., early Wednesday, May 5. The truck driver was stopped for a routine inspection when he refused to give a trooper his identification and pulled a gun, authorities said.

According to court documents, on the night of May 28, 2020, Branden Michael Wolfe, 23, went to the 3rd Precinct, where a crowd of hundreds had gathered after George Floyd’s death. Wolfe entered the building and stole several items including a police vest, duty belt, handcuffs, earpiece, baton, knife, riot helmet, pistol magazine, police radio, police overdose kit, uniform name plates and ammunition. He was arrested on June 3, 2020, after being spotted wearing the police vest, the duty belt and carrying the tactical baton in St. Paul.

St. Paul firefighters responded to two structure fires within the city in the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 4. Firefighters were dispatched to the first structure fire just before 1:30 a.m. A garage fire was reported in the 500 block of Thomas Ave. in the Frogtown neighborhood.

A Brainerd man has been sentenced to 48 months in prison and must pay $12 million in restitution for his role in the arson at the Minneapolis Police Department’s 3rd Precinct building last May.

State Troopers near Owatonna spotted a freshly stolen vehicle from the Holiday gas station on I-35, just north of the city late Sunday afternoon, April 25. Troopers initiated a pursuit and the driver fled at a high rate of speed to the north. Troopers continued the pursuit north into the city of Bloomington.

Minneapolis police are investigating the city’s 23rd homicide of 2021 after a 19-year-old woman was found dead inside a residence on the south side of the city Friday afternoon. A suspect, Jose Daniel Cuenca-Zuniga, 23, was arrested in Ohio later the same day, police said, and will be extradited to Minnesota to face charges.

The armed carjacking suspect who was fatally shot by Burnsville officers after a pursuit Sunday afternoon has been identified, as have the officers who fired their weapons, who are all on standard administrative leave.
