1 Dead, 1 Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash in Burnsville Overnight
A man is dead and one other is seriously injured after a head-on crash in Burnsville around 2:45 a.m. Saturday. Emergency crews were called to southbound Interstate 35 at Crystal Lake Road for the crash that closed all traffic on the interstate for hours.
BCA: Driver Died of Self-Inflicted Gunshot After Eden Valley Pursuit
A 34-year-old man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after an early morning pursuit Saturday southwest of Saint Cloud. Around 2:20 a.m., an Eden Valley officer attempted to make a traffic stop for speeding and a headlight violation, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension confirmed in a news release issued Sunday.
Kidnapping Suspect Nabbed in Burnsville After Hours-Long Operation, Pursuit
Officers from multiple law enforcement agencies arrested a kidnapping suspect and found the female victim safe after a long-running tracking operation spanning more than a day and multiple metro locations. The suspect, Derrick Jonathan Fasig, 27, fled from a 2005 Chevy Tahoe after ditching it near the Shell station at 12340 Nicollet Ave. shortly after 4:30 p.m.

Two people were taken into custody on Tuesday by the Cannon River Drug and Violent Offender Task Force after an investigation into their involvement with controlled substances and stolen property.
Suspect Arrested in Fridley Hammer Assault
Police have arrested a man in connection to a violent attack with a hammer in Fridley, Feb. 3, leaving the victim with unspecified injuries. The 911 call came in just before 5 a.m. from a juvenile who said they were hiding in the bathroom with a sibling, and that their father was fighting with someone and yelling “you can’t hit me with a hammer!”
Arrest Made in Saint Paul Murder; Suspect in Warrant That Led to Amir Locke Killing
A suspect sought in connection to a January homicide in Saint Paul was arrested Monday in Winona, authorities have confirmed. The 17-year-old was the subject named in a search warrant served in downtown Minneapolis last week which ended in the police killing of 22-year-old Amir Locke, who was shot while inside a Bolero Flats apartment early Wednesday and not named on the warrant.
18-year-old Sentenced to 20 Years for Blaine Teen's 2021 Killing
Isaiah Harold-Stephaun Holmes, now 18, has been sentenced to a total of 240 months following the murder of 15-year-old Anthony Joseph Rouse, of Blaine, in July of 2021. Holmes was 17 at the time of the shooting and was initially charged with five felonies including 2nd-degree murder, 1st-degree assault and 1st-degree attempted aggravated robbery.
Murder Charges Filed Against 2 Suspects in Shooting Outside Richfield School
Formal charges have been filed against two suspects accused in the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old student earlier this week outside a Richfield school. Alfredo Rosario Solis, 19, and Fernando Valdez-Alvarez, 18, were arrested by police later the same day and are now charged with 2nd-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder in the shooting.

1 Dead in Shooting on Saint Paul's West Side
Saint Paul police have confirmed their sixth homicide investigation of the year after a man was fatally shot late Tuesday around 10:15 p.m., on the 700 block of Winslow Ave., in the city’s West Side neighborhood. Police were dispatched after multiple 911 callers reported that shots had been fired in a residential area. When squads arrived, they found an adult male in his 20s who had been shot.
Hennepin Sheriff Hutchinson Drops Re-Election Bid
Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson says he's not seeking re-election this November after a drunk driving crash and conviction, sharing in a statement Wednesday that he plans to serve out the remainder of his term. Hutchinson was hospitalized after he rolled his county SUV early Dec. 8 on Interstate 94 near Alexandria.
Student Killed, Another Critical After Shooting Outside Richfield School
One student died and another was critically injured after a shooting outside a Richfield school shortly after noon on Tuesday. The suspects fled the scene immediately after and have not yet been apprehended. Richfield police confirm they were dispatched at 12:07 p.m. to South Education Center, 7450 Penn Ave. S., where they found two students who were reportedly shot while on a sidewalk near the front entrance of the school.
Woman Struck, Killed By Rice County Sheriff's Deputy
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating after a woman was killed after being struck in the roadway by a Rice County Sheriff’s squad early Saturday morning. According to the State Patrol, the Rice County squad car was driving without lights or sirens going eastbound on Highway 60 in Morristown when the officer struck the person suspected of walking in the roadway.
Rochester Fire Crews Extinguish Afternoon House Fire
Shortly before 3 p.m on Saturday, crews were dispatched to the 1600 block of 2nd Avenue Northeast in Rochester for a report of flames in the upstairs bedroom of a residence. Initial arriving crews reported they had fire showing from the back of the house, and heavy smoke showing from the roof.
Cottage Grove Man Federally Charged in Bank Robbery Spree
A 43-year-old Cottage Grove man has been federally charged in connection to a string of Twin Cities bank robberies that were carried out in Nov. 2021. Michael Thomas Prall is charged with three counts of bank robbery and made his first court appearance Wednesday.
Men Sentenced for 'Harmless Fun' After 2 Pipe Bombs Detonated in Washington Co.
Two men who pled guilty to making and detonating homemade explosive devices in November of 2020 in Washington County each received 30-day jail sentences and two years of probation. 30-year-old Nicolas Thole of Woodbury and 41-year-old Seth Slaikeu of Afton were also fined $387.00 each. Thole and Slaikeu were also given a stay of imposition, meaning their felony convictions will be reduced to misdemeanors upon successful completion of their probation.
Man Charged with Murder After Wife Found Beaten, Wrapped in Comforter
Charges filed Monday in the murder of a 66-year-old Saint Paul woman detail the gruesome scene found by investigators inside a home on the 1400 block of Dale St. N. Early Sunday, Jan. 23, officers were called to the home and found Arvid Harry Johnson, 66, smoking a cigarette at the kitchen table, according to a criminal complaint. They found his wife Linda M. Johnson, 66, on the floor in a bedroom of the home, with obvious trauma to her face and head.
Man Jailed After Woman Found Fatally Injured in Saint Paul
A woman who was found “badly beaten” inside a Saint Paul residence early Sunday morning died of her injuries at the scene and her husband has been jailed on suspicion of murder, police say. Officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of Dale St. N. in the city’s North End neighborhood around 12:30 a.m.
