MN Troopers Stop 500+ Speeders During 10-day 'HEAT' Patrol
Minnesota State Troopers stopped 516 drivers for speeding during a 10-day period of what the agency called Highway Enforcement for Aggressive Traffic—or ‘HEAT’—patrols. Troopers also arrested 23 people for driving while impaired and six people for outstanding warrants.
Brooklyn Park Man Gets 16 Years for Washington Co. Sex Trafficking
A Brooklyn Park man charged with promoting prostitution has been sentenced in Washington County District County to more than 16 years in prison. James Edward Williams, 42, was sentenced Friday to 201 months in state prison on charges of engaging in sex trafficking and violation of a no-contact order.
White Bear Lake Woman Pleads Guilty in Relation to Man's 2021 Dakota Co. Killing
Under a plea agreement, a 23-year-old White Bear Lake woman will avoid a 2nd-degree murder charge in connection with the death of a man found tied and gagged with a rag in a bathroom in southern Dakota County last July. Ryann Elizabeth Smith, 23, was originally charged with 2nd-degree unintentional murder in the death of Chris Laftontaine, 55, at his home on July 2, 2021 in Greenvale Township, in southern Dakota County.
Champlin Man Arrested at MSP Airport After Domestic Assault in Kandiyohi Co.
A Champlin man was arrested Monday night at the Minneapolis-St. Paul airport after a reported domestic assault and gunshot fired in the city of Spicer that occurred early Sunday morning. According to a media release from the Kandiyohi County Sheriff's Office, on Sunday, Feb. 27 at about 4 a.m., they received a report of an assault with a firearm in the area of 100 Lake Ave. N. in Spicer, northeast of Willmar.
Farmington Man Pleads Guilty in Connection to March 2021 Shooting
A Farmington man has pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting 1st-degree robbery in connection with a shooting in Farmington on March 19, 2021. Gage Allen David Anderson, 19, is scheduled to be sentenced on April 15. He was originally charged with attempted 1st-degree murder in the incident. On the afternoon of March 19, 2021, Farmington police responded to a report of a male who pointed a gun at another person near an intersection on the north end of town.
Teen Suspect Arrested in Random Killing of 34-year-old Woman in Saint Paul
Authorities say they’ve arrested a 15-year-old male suspect in relation to the apparently random fatal shooting of a 34-year-old woman as she was inside her vehicle in Saint Paul on Feb. 16. The juvenile was arrested Wednesday afternoon by Minneapolis police officers and is being held at the Hennepin County Jail for 2nd-degree murder.
Arrest Made in 9-year-old Girl's North Minneapolis Killing
Police have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a 9-year-old girl who was struck by a stray bullet as she was jumping on a trampoline last May in her north Minneapolis neighborhood. Agents with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension on Wednesday arrested a man they say fired the gunshot that killed Trinity Ottoson-Smith.
Man Faces 4 Felonies for Shots Fired at Golden Valley Officer During Pursuit
A Brooklyn Park man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting at a Golden Valley police officer during a foot pursuit last week. Marlon Terrelle Collins, 30, is charged with four felonies: attempted 1st-degree murder, attempted 2nd-degree intentional murder, 1st-degree assault and possession of a firearm after the incident Feb. 16.
Man Faces Murder Charge in Killing of 15-year-old in North Minneapolis
A Minneapolis man now faces a charge of murder after the killing of a 15-year-old high school student earlier this month in a shooting on the city’s north side. Cody Logan Fohrenkam, 29, was formally charged with one count of intentional 2nd-degree murder in the death of Deshaun Hill on Feb. 9.
1 Dead, 3 Injured in Shooting Outside Saint Paul Funeral Home
One man was killed and at least three others injured in a shooting outside a funeral home late Monday morning in Saint Paul’s West Side neighborhood. Police were called to the scene around 11:20 a.m. and located multiple victims who were shot. Police reported that at least one victim was critically injured and called for multiple ambulances to treat the wounded.

Saint Paul firefighters battled a difficult fire in a two-story building for several hours on Sunday evening. Firefighters were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. after multiple reports of flames coming from the building.
Charges: Wrong-Way Driver Causes Head-On Crash That Kills 20-year-old
The Minnesota State Patrol is investigating a head-on crash that claimed the life of 20-year-old Hannah Goman, of Stevens Point, WI, and injured two others she was riding in a vehicle with. 21-year-old Nicholas Lemmerond and 22-year-old Natalie Carlson, both of Oshkosh, WI, suffered non-life-threatening injuries after the crash.
Woman Injured in Golden Valley Drive-By Shooting; $5K Reward Offered
A woman was seriously injured in a drive-by shooting near Highway 100 in Golden Valley on Saturday evening. Just after 8:30 p.m., officers were dispatched near Duluth St. & Regent Ave. N. for the report of two vehicles traveling in the area and ensuing gunshots, according to a city media release.
4 Injured in Overnight Shootings in Minneapolis
At least four individuals were injured in shootings in Minneapolis overnight. According to scanner traffic, police were sent to two shooting scenes where two victims were located at each scene. The first shooting occurred in downtown Minneapolis when an officer located a vehicle with two shooting victims inside near South Marquette Avenue & South 7th Street just after 2:15 a.m.
One Found Dead Next to Burning Vehicle in St. Louis County
An individual was found dead next to a burning pickup truck late Friday evening. According to a press release, emergency responders were called to a residence in the area of Highway 2 near Saginaw around 11:00 p.m. on Friday. When crews arrived, they located a pickup truck that was on fire with a deceased body next to it.
Shots Fired at Golden Valley Officer During Pursuit
Two suspects are in custody and awaiting charges after a pursuit and shots being fired at a Golden Valley police officer on Wednesday night. Golden Valley officers were called to the area near 37th Avenue North & Major Avenue North after a citizen reported a suspicious vehicle. When officers located the suspicious vehicle, one suspect fled on foot while firing gunshots toward an officer.
Former Officer Gets 2 Years for Manslaughter in Daunte Wright Death
Former Brooklyn Center police officer Kimberly Potter has been sentenced to 24 months in prison by Hennepin County Judge Regina Chu for fatally shooting Daunte Wright during a traffic stop last spring. Two-thirds of Potter’s sentence must be served in prison, while one-third can be served on conditional release. She may be eligible for release in April 2023.
Firefighters Battle Frigid Cold During 3-Alarm Fire at Blaine Fleet Farm
More than 50 firefighters responded to a large fire at Mills Fleet Farm in Blaine shortly after 11:30 a.m. Thursday. While crews responded, they reported a very large column of black smoke filling the air. Upon arrival, crews found a fast-moving fire containing palletized fertilizer, patio furniture, deer stands and other combustibles with flames reaching 50 feet high.
Woman Killed in Saint Paul Shooting in Payne-Phalen Neighborhood
Saint Paul police are investigating after a woman in her 30s was killed in a shooting at the intersection of Payne Avenue and Cook Avenue in Saint Paul's Payne-Phalen neighborhood on Wednesday evening. Police were called to the intersection around 6:45 p.m. on a report of a person unconscious in a vehicle. According to scanner traffic, emergency crews arrived and found a vehicle in the middle of the intersection with a bullet hole in it, and a woman inside bleeding from the neck.
Snowmobiler Killed in Crash With Ambulance in Northern Minnesota
A 61-year-old snowmobiler was killed in a crash with an ambulance rig Saturday afternoon in northern St. Louis County, authorities have confirmed. The male victim was driving a snowmobile northbound on the Arrowhead snowmobile trail and was attempting to cross over the roadway of Ash River Trail shortly after 3:30 p.m.
