Teen Charged in Fatal Shooting of Saint Paul Businesswoman
A Saint Paul teenager has been ordered to stand trial as an adult, charged with two counts of 2nd-degree murder after allegedly firing the shots that killed a 34-year-old businesswoman in Saint Paul’s Payne-Phalen neighborhood in February 2022.
Man Found Guilty in Shakopee Beheading
A Scott County judge has found 44-year-old Alexis Saborit guilty of decapitating his girlfriend with a machete and dumping her body near downtown Shakopee. Saborit was found guilty of 1st-degree premeditated murder in the July 2021 killing of America Thayer, 55. A Scott County judge made the ruling Thursday, May 11 after a stipulated facts trial. Saborit had earlier waived his right to a jury trial.
Oak Grove Man Charged After Ramsey Pursuit, Crash
An Oak Grove man is facing felony charges for allegedly fleeing from an attempted traffic stop in Ramsey and flipping his vehicle during the pursuit. On May 8, 2023, a Ramsey police officer on routine patrol witnessed a known person with a revoked driver's license leaving a gas station in a Toyota Camry.
Man Accused of Stabbing Girlfriend's 12-year-old Son
A 50-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and assault after allegedly stabbing his girlfriend’s 12-year-old son multiple times earlier this month at a Minneapolis apartment building, critically wounding him.
18-year-old to Stand Trial for Fatal Mall of America Shooting
A teenager has been ordered to stand trial as an adult for his alleged role in a fatal shooting inside the Mall of America in December last year. Lavon Sema-J Longstreet, now 18, faces 2nd-degree murder and 2nd-degree assault charges after the fatal shooting Dec. 23. He was 17 years old at the time.
Man Charged in Fatal Woodbury Overdose
Woodbury police were called to a residence on Sunbury Alcove on March 27 around noon for a report of a man found not breathing. Officers arrived and found the 22-year-old deceased in the basement bedroom. According to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner, the man’s cause of death was said to be fentanyl toxicity.
Man Dies After Rollover Crash in North Branch
The State Patrol responded to the crash around 11:30 a.m. Troopers say 37-year-old Bryan Adam Schreiner, of Lauderdale, was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 before driving onto the right shoulder, overcorrecting and sliding sideways before entering the median ditch, causing the vehicle to roll.
1 Dead, 1 Injured in Stolen Motorcycle Crash
Minneapolis police say one man is dead and another man suffering serious injuries after crashing a stolen motorcycle near the intersection of Hiawatha Ave. & E. 26th St. around 1:45 a.m., Tuesday morning. Police say their preliminary investigation shows that the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on E. 26th St., crossing Hiawatha when he went through a red light and struck another vehicle in the intersection.
3 Charged for Crashing Stolen Car in Shakopee After Pursuit
Three people are facing charges after fleeing police through multiple counties in a stolen vehicle and crashing into another driver in Shakopee. A Chaska police officer was on routine patrol around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, and driving an unmarked police cruiser on Hwy. 41.
Man Dead After Saturday Morning Shooting in Saint Paul
Saint Paul police are investigating a homicide after a man was found fatally shot early this morning on the 2300 block of Chilcombe Ave., in the city’s Saint Anthony Park neighborhood. Just before 7:30 a.m. Saturday, a 911 caller reported that their neighbor had been shot and was in their front yard. Multiple 911 callers also reported hearing the gunfire.
Man Indicted in Minneapolis Mosque Arson Fires
A Plymouth man has been indicted on one count of arson and one count of damage to religious property in relation to two fires set in south Minneapolis mosques. According to court documents, on April 23 around 7 p.m., Jackie Rahm Little, 36, started a fire in the bathroom of the Masjid Omar Islamic Center.
Motorcyclist Killed in Coon Rapids Crash
The Coon Rapids Police Department says a 25-year-old man is dead after witnesses say he ran a red light and was struck by a vehicle Thursday evening. Police were called to the intersection of Northdale Boulevard Northwest and Round Lake Boulevard Northwest just before 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening. Officers arrived and found bystanders providing CPR to the motorcyclist.
Man Faces 3 Felonies in Lake Elmo Kidnapping, Sexual Assault
A New Auburn man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly holding a Lake Elmo woman against her will while physically and sexually assaulting her for over 24 hours. David Powers, 35, is charged with 1st-degree criminal sexual conduct, kidnapping and domestic assault by strangulation, all felonies.
MSOP Staff Member Assaulted by Client in Moose Lake
Nicolas Aron-Jones was arrested, taken to the Carlton County Jail and booked on suspicion of 2nd- and 4th-degree assault. The 59-year-old male staff member was airlifted to a hospital with injuries, reportedly beaten in the head with a metal object that had been wrapped in a pillowcase.
Man Charged in Brooklyn Center Stabbing Death
A New Hope man is charged with 2nd-degree murder after allegedly stabbing a man in the parking lot of a Brooklyn Center apartment building earlier this week, killing him. Police spoke to the victim’s sister, who said that her child’s father, Demetrius Lamar Harris, 28, had come over to her apartment that evening.
19-year-old Charged After Crashing Tesla, Injuring 4
Ramsey County prosecutors have charged a 19-year-old man with three felony counts of criminal vehicular operation causing substantial bodily harm after he was allegedly speeding down Virginia Street last Sunday, struck a building and another vehicle. The suspect, Dung Dinh Pham, also faces a gross misdemeanor charge of criminal vehicular operation causing bodily harm.
Feds Indict 45 in Minneapolis Gang Crackdown
Federal indictments unsealed today detail a wide-ranging investigation and charges against 45 alleged members of two Minneapolis-based street gangs. The two indictments target members of the “Highs” and the “Bloods” gangs and allege racketeering conspiracy involving murder, attempted murder, robbery, obstruction of justice and drug trafficking.
2 Sentenced for 2022 Inver Grove Heights Homicide
A man and woman who earlier pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree murder have both now been sentenced to more than 30 years in prison for their roles in a Dakota County homicide. Fotini Anest West, 26, and Logan David Slack, 25, were ordered to serve 367 months in prison in connection with the September 2022 shooting death of Michael Chang-Beom Lee, 43.
Man Found Fatally Shot in Northeast Minneapolis
Minneapolis police say a man in his 30s is dead after an apparent shooting near the 700 block of Quincy St. NE. Police were called to the area on Tuesday around 8:40 a.m. on a report of a person not breathing. Officers arrived and found the male victim, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
Inver Grove Heights Officer Dies After Medical Emergency
The Inver Grove Heights Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own after an officer suffered a medical emergency on Friday, April 28 and died at the hospital on Sunday. According to a Facebook post by the department, Inver Grove Heights police and fire crews responded to the emergency on Friday, along with MHealth paramedics.
