Campfire Incident Claims Life of Hibbing Man, Leaves Multiple Injured in French Township
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says a campfire that erupted at a holiday gathering in French Township on Friday evening has left one man dead and several others injured.
Man Dies in House Fire Near Ely
Emergency personnel were called to the report of the structure fire just after 1:15 p.m. Sunday on the 1400 block of Grant McMahan Boulevard in Morse Township, near Ely. 911 callers reported that the elderly homeowner was believed to still be inside.
1 Dead, 1 Seriously Injured In Crash near Duluth
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says a 78-year-old Duluth man died Friday in a crash in the city of Rice Lake. Crews were called to the intersection of Martin Road near Woodland Avenue on a report of the crash just before 8:45 a.m.
2 Dead in St. Louis County Crash
Deputies responded to the area after an automated 911 call from an iPhone relaying that the owner had been in a severe crash. Deputies found two occupants of the vehicle deceased at the scene, with the driver still trapped inside and critically injured. The driver was airlifted to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition.
Scuba Diver Dies in St. Louis County Lake
The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says a 31-year-old Canadian man died Friday morning while scuba diving with another person at Pike Lake. Emergency responders were called to the Pike Lake Public Access in Canosia Township around 10:30 a.m. for a report of a man who had gone underwater.

A teacher in St. Louis County is charged with soliciting a child through electronic communication to engage in sexual conduct as well as engaging in electronic communication describing sexual conduct with a child, both felonies, after allegedly kissing a student and then sending multiple explicit text messages.
Man Charged in Stabbing Outside Mountain Iron Restaurant
A 25-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault after a report of a stabbing outside of Adventures Restaurant in Mountain Iron late Wednesday afternoon. Both the victim and the suspect in the stabbing were determined to be known to each other and were quickly located by law enforcement.
Man Jumps to Safety From Burning Home Near Cook
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says two people were able to escape a house fire early Thursday morning, with one of the residents jumping from a 2nd-story window. Emergency crews were dispatched to the 9900 block of Highway 22 in Alango Township, which is south of Cook. Dispatch received a 911 call from a resident saying there was smoke coming from the upstairs bedroom, where her nephew had been staying.
Man Arrested in St. Louis County After 28-year-old Woman's Overdose Death
Saint Louis County authorities have taken a man into custody on a 3rd-degree murder charge after a woman’s fatal overdose last year. Cordaro Demario Ware, 32, is being held at the St. Louis County Jail awaiting a court appearance.

Snowmobiler Killed in Crash With Ambulance in Northern Minnesota
A 61-year-old snowmobiler was killed in a crash with an ambulance rig Saturday afternoon in northern St. Louis County, authorities have confirmed. The male victim was driving a snowmobile northbound on the Arrowhead snowmobile trail and was attempting to cross over the roadway of Ash River Trail shortly after 3:30 p.m.
Mom Shot By Juvenile Daughter in St. Louis County, Minn.
St. Louis County emergency crews responded to a home on the 9200 block of Range Line Rd. in Morcom Township, near Cook, on Jan. 16 after a 911 caller reported they had been shot and was driving to the Cook Hospital. The caller reported that their daughter had shot her and that she was still at home, but had access to a vehicle.
