Mom Shot By Juvenile Daughter in St. Louis County, Minn.
St. Louis County emergency crews responded to a home on the 9200 block of Range Line Rd. in Morcom Township, near Cook, on Jan. 16 after a 911 caller reported they had been shot and was driving to the Cook Hospital. The caller reported that their daughter had shot her and that she was still at home, but had access to a vehicle.
Suspect Arrested After Firing Shot at Officer, Standoff in Willmar
Willmar police arrested a 36-year-old man early Sunday morning after he allegedly fired a gunshot at an officer during a foot pursuit and holed up in a garage for hours, armed with a handgun. Police said Esteban Ramos Jr., of Raymond, Minn., was stopped by an officer on the 100 block of High Ave. NE. just before 8:40 p.m. Saturday in Willmar.
Man Fatally Shot in Saint Paul's Hamline-Midway Neighborhood
St. Paul officers responded to a shooting on the 500 block of Prior Avenue North just after 9:30 pm. There, officers found a male believed to be in his 30s suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. The male victim was transported to Regions Hospital in traumatic arrest and didn’t have a pulse.
Woman Killed in Stabbing at Saint Paul Apartment, Suspect Arrested
A woman died after being stabbed in the chest Sunday afternoon inside an apartment building on the 100 block of Larpenteur Ave. W. According to initial dispatch audio, a call just prior of a male suspect breaking in an apartment door may be related.
18-year-old Arrested for New Year's Eve Mall of America Shooting
Bloomington police have arrested a man suspected of a shooting inside the Mall of America on New Year's Eve that injured two people. Kahlil Markell Wiley, 18, of Saint Paul, was arrested around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4 on the 2600 block of Rice St. in Roseville and a firearm was recovered at the scene, police said. Wiley is being held on suspicion of 1st-degree assault with further charges forthcoming from the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.
VIDEO: Man Injured After Shooting on Saint Paul's East Side
A shooting in Saint Paul's east side left a man injured around 6 p.m. on Monday night. Squads responded to the scene on the 500 block of Nebraska Avenue East and located an individual with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Police and medics provided emergency care and transported the victim to the hospital where his current condition is unknown.
2 Injured in Shooting at Mall of America on New Year’s Eve
Bloomington police are investigating after two people were injured after a shooting occurred inside the Mall of America on Friday evening just before 5 p.m. Police officers inside the mall located two victims near Sears Court on the third floor of the mall. One victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the leg, and another had suffered a wound to the shoulder. Both injuries appeared to be non-life-threatening.
Saint Paul Shootings Leave 1 Man Dead, Another Injured Tuesday Night
Saint Paul police are investigating after two unrelated shootings left one man dead and another injured late Tuesday night. The first shooting occurred on the 500 block of Blair Ave around 10:15 p.m. Dec. 28. Officers reported the victim had a gunshot wound to the chest and arm. Medics transported the man to Regions Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Saint Paul Police Investigating Fatal Shooting Monday Night
Saint Paul police detectives are investigating after a man was shot just before 10 p.m. on Monday on the 900 block of Rice St. The man was transported to Regions Hospital and died several hours later.
According to dispatch audio, the man had been shot in the chest and was in critical condition.
Man Sentenced For Attack on Police Officer, Menards Employee
A man who attacked a Menards employee and a police officer was sentenced on Wednesday in McLeod County Court. Luke Alvin Oeltjenbruns, 61, of Hutchinson, was originally charged with 1st-degree assault for use of deadly force against a police officer, two counts of 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon, and one count of fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle that resulted in substantial bodily harm, all felonies. As part of a plea deal, one count of 2nd-degree assault and fleeing a police officer were dismissed.
Man Charged with 2nd-Degree Murder in Eagan Fatal Shooting
A Burnsville man held in jail since a fatal shooting outside an Eagan gas station Saturday night has now been formally charged with 2nd-degree murder. Sakaria Osman Ahmed, 31, is accused of fatally shooting Faisal A. Abukar, 33, just before 7 p.m. on Dec. 18.
According to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday, Ahmed was among a group outside the Marathon gas station at 1969 Silver Bell Rd. when a dispute erupted and one man involved was punched in the face, then thrown to the ground by an unidentified suspect.
Hennepin Co. Sheriff Sentenced After Guilty Plea in DUI Crash
Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson was sentenced today as part of a plea agreement after driving under the influence and crashing his county-issued vehicle on December 8th near Alexandria, Minnesota.
Hutchinson was given a 90-day jail sentence which was stayed for two years, along with two years of probation. Hutchinson was also ordered to complete a chemical assessment, have no alcohol violations, or driver’s license violations, as well as abstain from any alcohol or controlled substance use with the exception of prescribed medications. Hutchinson will be subjected to random drug and alcohol testing as part of the sentence.
Arrest Made After Man Fatally Shot Near Eagan Gas Station
A Burnsville man has been arrested and is being held on probable cause 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon after another man was shot in the head early Friday evening in Eagan.
Police were dispatched to the Marathon station at 1969 Silver Bell Rd. just before 6 p.m. There, they found a male victim with a gunshot wound. Initial radio dispatches said the victim was shot in the head, struck near the ear and was initially unconscious, but still breathing.
Hennepin Co. Sheriff David Hutchinson Pleads Guilty to DUI Charge
Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor DUI charge on Thursday morning, stemming from a rollover crash on December 8th near Alexandria, Minnesota.
Hutchinson was leaving a Minnesota Sheriffs' Association conference at Arrowwood Resort & Conference Center in Alexandria in his county-issued vehicle when he crashed at about 2:30 AM on I-94, a few miles east of Alexandria. Hutchinson was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Suspect Dead After Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound Following Shooting, High-Speed Chase
A suspect died by suicide following a shooting in St. Cloud and a high-speed police chase on I-94 in Wright County on Monday afternoon.
St. Cloud Police responded to a shooting in a parking lot in the 1000 block of 5th Avenue South. Officers located a 20-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. The victim was transported to the hospital by ambulance in serious condition. St. Cloud Officers gathered suspect information and relayed it to other nearby agencies.
Hennepin Co. Sheriff Charged With Four Misdemeanors After Rollover Crash, Suspected DUI
The Douglas County attorney has filed four misdemeanor charges against Hennepin County Sheriff David Hutchinson after crashing his squad car near Alexandria, Minnesota early Wednesday morning.
Hutchinson is charged with one count each of fourth-degree driving while impaired, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .08 within two hours, and carrying a pistol under the influence of alcohol. Hutchinson was served a summons at Alomere Hospital in Alexandria this afternoon.
2 Juveniles Dead after Crashing Vehicle During High-Speed Pursuit
Two juveniles are dead and three others are injured after crashing their vehicle during a high-speed chase in northeast Minneapolis early Thursday morning. Police say the vehicle was taken in an armed carjacking about 8 hours earlier.
Robbinsdale police spotted a vehicle matching the description of the carjacked vehicle near County Road 81 & Abbott Avenue and initiated a pursuit. Dispatch audio obtained by MN CRIME revealed the vehicle had been traveling at speeds in excess of 90 MPH before crashing near Lowry Avenue Northeast & Hayes Street.
Trial Starts for Ex-Cop in Fatal Brooklyn Center Shooting of Daunte Wright
The trial of former Brooklyn Center officer Kim Potter began its first full day Wednesday, Dec. 8, with opening statements given and two witnesses called by the prosecution.
Potter is facing first-degree and second-degree manslaughter charges after fatally shooting Daunte Wright on April 11, 2021. The former officer has stated she intended to draw her Taser but drew her firearm instead, firing one round into Wright as he attempted to flee.
Hennepin Co. Sheriff Hospitalized After Rollover Crash, Suspected DUI
Hennepin County Sheriff Dave Hutchinson, 41, was involved in a single-car crash early this morning near Alexandria, according to a media release. It is being investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol as a DUI.
"I made the inexcusable decision to drive after drinking alcohol and I am deeply sorry. As the Chief Law Enforcement Officer in Hennepin County, I am held to a higher standard. I regret the choice I made and apologize to the citizens I serve, the staff I work with, and the friends and family who support me," Hutchinson said in a written statement.
Officers and Slain Suspect Identified in Mounds View Police Shooting
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the man shot by officers last Sunday evening in Mounds View as Noah Douglas Kelley, 21, from Saint Paul. Kelley died at Hennepin Healthcare due to multiple gunshot wounds.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension said two officers discharged their weapons at Kelley after responding for a report of shots fired and an armed robbery near 2537 County Rd I.
