Infant Dies After Cannon Falls Apartment Fire; 3 Others Hurt
One of three children who were hospitalized following a Cannon Falls apartment fire has died of her injuries. 10-month-old Seqouyah Kelleymae Johnson died early Friday morning at Hennepin Healthcare in Minneapolis, according to a media release from the medical examiner’s office. The cause of her death was listed as smoke inhalation.
Man Charged in Assault Outside Duluth Casino
Chase Dayton Covington, 20, of Duluth, was seen on video surveillance assaulting a man with a baseball bat on April 9. According to the criminal complaint filed, a man had just left the Fond-du-Luth Casino and was walking down the sidewalk when Covington approached him and asked him for money.
2 Dead in Early-Morning Saint Paul Shooting
Police were called just before 5:45 a.m., to an apartment on the 1400 block of Minnehaha Ave. E. on a report of a person shot. An adult female victim with an apparent gunshot wound was found inside an apartment. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Duluth Man Charged in Copper Cable Theft Spree
A Duluth man faces four felony charges for allegedly cutting copper cables from power poles in Saint Louis County. Aaron Alan Horn, 30, of Duluth had been suspected of numerous copper wire thefts where cables owned by CenturyLink were cut from power lines, causing service issues for customers in the area.
Three Officers Shot, One Fatally, in Cyrus
The Pope County Sheriff’s Office says two deputies and a Starbuck police officer were shot while on a domestic call in Cyrus around 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening. According to family members and additional information, one of the deputies who was shot has died of his injuries. Radio dispatches indicated that the deputy was being transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office late Saturday night.
Man Dies in High-Speed Crash on I-35 in Lakeville
The State Patrol says just before 1:30 a.m., a 2022 Lincoln Aviator was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 towards 210th Street West when the driver struck a 2020 Toyota Corolla from behind. The driver of the Aviator didn’t stop at the scene of the crash and sped southbound, where it crashed into a semi-trailer at a high rate of speed.
Man Dies After Dog Attack in Brooklyn Center
Police say they responded to a residence on the 5700 block of Halifax Avenue North where they found four dogs attacking 22-year-old Dezmond Ray Thomas Trawick in the backyard. Police say they deployed a “less-lethal” round which struck at least one of the dogs, resulting in all of the dogs returning to the residence.
18-year-old Claims Self-Defense in Minneapolis Fatal Shooting
An 18-year-old faces a murder charge after allegedly shooting a man in the chest during an argument at a residence in Minneapolis earlier this month. Jackson Gregory Robertson, 18, faces one charge of 2nd-degree murder and one charge of carrying a pistol without a permit. Court documents do not list an address for Robertson. According to those documents, Robertson says the shooting was in self-defense.
Woman Charged in Drunken Crash With Child in Car
A Brooklyn Center woman is facing six charges after allegedly driving drunk with a revoked license and crashing while her 7-year-old daughter was a passenger in the car. Brooklyn Center police were called to the intersection of 61st Ave. N. & Emerson Ave. N. just before 8 p.m. on April 10, 2023, on a report of a two-vehicle crash
17-year-old to Stand Trial as Adult in 2022 Minneapolis Homicide
A 17-year-old has been certified to stand trial as an adult, accused of 2nd-degree murder and other charges after an uptown Minneapolis shooting in April 2022. According to a criminal complaint, just before midnight on April 23, 2022, officers working in the downtown area broadcast that gunshots had been heard near Hennepin Ave. & Lagoon Ave.
CHARGES: Dog thrown from vehicle, victims carjacked during crime spree
Prosecutors have charged two people in connection with a crime spree that included a dog thrown from a vehicle during a pursuit and multiple victims violently carjacked. The dog, Taho, was thrown from the rear passenger door and rolled multiple times on the pavement due to the truck’s speed. He is now being cared for by a dog rescue and rehab organization.
Granite Falls Police Officer Shot While Serving Warrant
Granite Falls police confirm officers on a multi-agency task force were serving a warrant at a residence around 4 p.m. Monday and when officers entered the residence, the suspect reportedly fired shots, striking an officer. Officers were part of the Cooperative Enforcement Effort VI Drug and Gang Task Force and were serving a “knock and announce” search warrant at a residence on Bergeson Drive in Granite Falls. The resident was wanted for multiple felony weapon and drug charges.
Homeowner Pulled from Mounds View Fire, Hospitalized
The Spring Lake Park – Blaine – Mounds View Fire Department responded to a structure fire Sunday just before 11 a.m. on a report of smoke showing from a residence on the 7000 block of Groveland Road. In a media release, SBM Chief Dan Retka says crews arrived and found fire on the main level of the home. A neighbor reported to firefighters that the homeowner may still have been inside the home.
Charges Filed After Woman Fatally Stabbed in Waite Park
A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found fatally stabbed inside a Waite Park apartment in February. Police were called Feb. 6 to an apartment building on the 300 block of Park Meadows Dr. in Waite Park to conduct a welfare check. Officers entered the apartment and discovered the victim deceased in the living room with lacerations to her neck.
Woman Charged With Arson in Stearns County House Fire
A North Dakota woman has been charged with arson after allegedly setting a home on fire with a propane torch last Thursday in Stearns County. The Stearns County Sheriff's Office was dispatched on April 6 around 2:15 p.m. to the 43900 block of 248th Avenue in Krain Township, about 15 miles east of Sauk Centre, for a report of a dwelling fire.
Woman Killed in Saint Paul Shooting Saturday Morning
Saint Paul police say a woman was fatally shot inside a residence in the Battle Creek neighborhood late Saturday morning and the suspect remains at large. Police were called around 11:15 a.m. to the 2200 block of Hillsdale Avenue for multiple 911 calls about a woman being shot.
Man Killed in Early Easter Sunday Shooting
Minneapolis police say a man was shot and killed just before 4:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1800 block of Russell Ave. N. MPD says officers located a 34-year-old adult male outside of a residence with at least one gunshot wound to the neck. Officers provided medical aid until paramedics arrived and the man was transported by EMS to North Memorial Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Three Charged in 21-year-old Woman's OD Death
Three people have been charged with aiding and abetting 3rd-degree murder, accused of providing a 21-year-old woman with the drugs that caused her death. 23-year-old Haley Ross and 21-year-old Connor Hoeft, both of North Mankato, along with 25-year-old Kueth Ruae, of Mankato, were all formally charged in court earlier this week.
Man Jumps to Safety From Burning Home Near Cook
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office says two people were able to escape a house fire early Thursday morning, with one of the residents jumping from a 2nd-story window. Emergency crews were dispatched to the 9900 block of Highway 22 in Alango Township, which is south of Cook. Dispatch received a 911 call from a resident saying there was smoke coming from the upstairs bedroom, where her nephew had been staying.
Victim Dead After Shooting Outside Saint Paul Target
Saint Paul police are investigating a fatal shooting this morning in the parking lot of the Target store at 1744 Suburban Ave. after a male victim died a short distance away. Police have confirmed that the victim was transported by a private vehicle a short distance from the parking lot, to Fire Station 24 at 273 White Bear Ave.
